Candle and Wax Melt Care

Candle care

Burn time

I highly recommend that you burn your candle for no longer than 4 hours at a time. This will make the candle burn better and last longer.

The first burn is the most important!! You must allow the wax to melt completely to the edges of the tin to prevent tunnelling.

Candle tunnelling

Candle tunnelling occurs when only a small portion of wax melts surrounding the wick while the candle is lit, instead of evenly melting across the wax’s surface, it will appear as if the flame is carving out a vertical tunnel in the centre of the candle hence its name, candle tunnelling.

This dramatically reduces the burn time or your candle.

Wick trimming

After the first burn trim the wick, and continue to trim the wick after each burn. Always blow the candle out first and wait for it to cool down before trimming the wick. Keeping a well trimmed wick on your candle will avoid it from ivy and the flame getting too large and creating smoke.

Frosting

Because Sent Candles use 100% soy wax sometimes our candles can have a slight frost over the surface. This is completely normal and natural for soy wax to do this.

Candle safety

Only burn your candle on a level surface away from drafts and objects that could catch fire. Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours keep out of reach of children and pets, hot wax can burn!

Do not leave your candle out of sight while burning. Always blow out your candle and allow to cool before moving your candle.

Once your candle has completely cooled replace the lid back onto your candle to preserve the candle’s fragrance and to keep your candle dust free.

Wax melt care

Simply place 2 or 3 wax melts in the well of your electric wax warmer or the ceramic dish of your wax melter, light an un scented tea light below, once the wax is warm it will melt and spread fragrance that will fill the room.

Changing your wax melt.

To change your wax melt wait until the burner has cooled and the wax is hard. Place a in scented tea light under the burner, wait for 30 seconds blow out the tea light and the wax should be soft enough to remove the wax safely. Once the wax is removed pipe with a dry piece of kitchen towel. Place 2 or 3 new wax melts into your melter relight your tea light and enjoy your new fragrance.

Candle and wax melt storage

Wax melts are sensitive to light and temperature you can avoid your wax melts from cracking and melting by storing them in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight. When your candle is not burning place the lid on top to preserve the fragrance and also keep out of direct sunlight.
